Preparation tips for best quality quilt:
- Backing fabric and batting needs to be 4” larger on all four sides than the quilt top.
- Selvedge edge of fabric removed from seam on backing.
- To avoid additional charges, square-up backing fabric with 90 (degree) corners so it can load onto the machine properly.
- Remove all excess loose threads from back & top of quilt or they will show up as “varicose veins” in the quilt.
- Add embellishments such as buttons, pins, or bows after the quilting is done.
- Have the quilt top and backing fabric completely pressed, making sure ALL seams are pressed flat.
- Check that all seams are complete with no open seams or holes.
- Lay quilt top on a flat surface to insure the quilt top lays flat.
- Batting: use quality all-cotton or cotton-poly blend. We also offer batting priced at manufactor’s suggested retail price.
- Backing: if pieced, have the seam going from top-to-bottom. Cotton fabric can either be washed or unwashed. Flannel must be washed in hot water and dried in automatic dryer.
